The Cost and Business Analytics Department within MITRE’s Cost, Acquisition, and Management Sciences (CAMS) Innovation Center solves our Sponsors’ problems by leveraging our key capabilities in Cost Estimation Analysis, Investment Economics Decision Analysis, and Strategic Business Financial Analytics. Job Description:

The Cost and Business Analytics Department, L213, is seeking a first line supervisor focused on staff development, technical expertise, staff management, and delivery of high-quality technical products. The successful candidate will be an active member of the department management team. Candidates should have a track record of leading people, thinking and acting innovatively, and collaborating across boundaries.

The new Group Lead will provide leadership and first line management, day-to-day career development and performance management for personnel; oversee and facilitate routine administrative aspects of employment; support onboarding for new employees; and communicate regularly with group members to ensure well-being, engagement, and job satisfaction. The ideal candidate will work closely with the L213 Department Head and other leadership and team members to promulgate a culture of quality, excellence, teamwork, staff development, continued learning, innovation, evaluation, and benchmarking to ensure continuous improvement within the department and on all aspects of the department's work program.

The GL position is critical to staff and department outcomes. We are looking for people who get excited by a challenge and are motivated to make a difference in staff development, business development, and technical direction setting.

Key Functions:

Advisor to staff, supporting staff development and goal alignment – hiring, onboarding, mentoring, communicating, and facilitating – for a group of 6-9 direct reports

Providing informed, concrete, productive feedback on staff performance

Developing and executing department technical and business goals

Developing new business in our core capability areas (Cost Estimating Analysis, Investment Economics Decision Analysis, and Strategic Business Financial Analytics)

Supporting department leaders in resource planning

Advising department leaders on staff performance and professional/career development needs

Basic Qualifications:

Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

Desire for personnel leadership / management roles

Strong desire to work with people

Strong verbal and written communications skills

Excellent interpersonal skills

Experience with team management in a dynamic and challenging technical environment

Experience coaching and mentoring employees in remote locations

Expertise in one or more capabilities, e.g., Cost Estimating Analysis, Investment Economics Decision Analysis, Strategic Business Financial Analytics

Secret clearance required

This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior supervisory experience

Broad knowledge of Federal Government Acquisition and Program Management
