Behind the scenes, but ahead of the curve: help us develop the next-generation public broadcaster.

Created in 2015 to align, lighten and modernize infrastructure, the Technology & Infrastructure (T & I) team is the backbone and the future forward arm of CBC/Radio-Canada. We are the people that make stuff work. We make connections; between media content, systems, people and places. We are the space in between.

A place with purpose. CBC/Radio-Canada has always been a highly regarded pioneer of media technology. Not just in Canada, but around the world. Today, we’re transforming ourselves from conventional radio and television broadcaster into a modern digital media company. Technology is the driving force and we are the team making it happen.

This role is a hybrid work arrangement. Work schedule to be discussed with Hiring Manager according to the guidelines defined by the department.

  Your role

CBC/Radio-Canada is seeking a Regional Manager, Real Estate Transactions - Transmission to negotiate and manage business activities on Transmission assets (towers and related facilities) in the Eastern region (Quebec and Atlantic). Based in Toronto, and reporting to the National Senior Manager, Real Estate Transactions – Transmission, you will serve as the primary point of contact between the Corporation and its licensees/lessors. This is an opportunity to manage site sharing and lease-management in the Eastern Region and identify other revenue sources and cost-cutting methods.

Who you are and where are you now?

You are analytical, self-motivated and driven, with interest in vertical real estate assets. You may be in broadcasting, telecommunication or real estate and you have extensive contract negotiation and management experience. You are looking for a role where you will encounter a new challenge every day, working with a diverse range of clients from traditional broadcasters to a variety of telecommunication service providers as well as landowners and operators. You are seeking an opportunity to step into the public sector where you can grow your career overseeing an extensive portfolio of agreements.

  What’s in it for you?

Challenges. This is an opportunity to oversee and manage:

The initiation and negotiation of complex leases and licenses for the let and lease of Transmission facilities and assets, with the objective of maximizing revenue and minimizing expenses.

The legal, operational and financial requirements of CBC/Radio-Canada and ensure they are met through the timely issue and execution of legally executed agreements.

The financial planning, budgeting, reporting and forecasting for all negotiated agreements.

The receipt and issue of external engineering studies to ensure the Corporation's towers, buildings and other holdings are not compromised by the addition of third-party facilities.

The relationships with all clients, both internal and external to manage difficult issues, resolve conflicts and, within scope, to build consensus.

  What you bring:

The education. You have a Bachelor of Business Administration or equivalent degree.

The experience. You have two to five years’ experience negotiating and managing leases and license agreements. This includes:

Demonstrable success in the application of financial principles and contract law.

Industry-related understanding of technology, transmission systems and telecommunications.

The analytical skills. You understand how to dig into issues, remove the roadblocks and present solutions both immediate and long term.

The technology skills. You are proficient with MS Office and Google Suite. You pick up new tools quickly. You have an interest in keeping abreast of technological developments and trends in the industry.

The project management skills. You have outstanding organizational abilities and you can manage competing priorities. You are skilled at presenting ideas, negotiating and focusing on creating win-win solutions.

You are bilingual (English and French).

Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.

We thank all applicants for their interest, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
