Job Description
Basic Function and Scope of Responsibility:
The Laboratory Specimen Processor is primarily responsible forperforming duties related to accessioning and data entry with a highdegree of proficiency.
This is a full-time position with the following work schedule;
Tuesday-Saturday, 8:00am- 4:30pm
Essential Job Duties:
Level I - Minimum
Demonstrate data entry proficiency with the Laboratory InformationManagement System (LIMS) and/or other specimen tracking systemExamine samples for accuracy and other requirements (sample type,stability, volume, etc.)Label samples for delivery to proper area(s)Use and maintain applicable sample storage materials (i.e. dry ice)Make appropriate internal or external contact to resolve patientdemographic issues or discrepanciesComplete correction requests as neededAdhere to all Data Management policies and protocolsMaintain quality control and quality assurance records as requiredAdhere to all quality and safety standards, as well as ensuringcompliance with all applicable regulatory agenciesWork closely and communicate with other lab associates to completedaily activities efficientlyMaintain other Clinical Laboratory databases as needed or assignedProvide administrative support for Clinical Laboratory projects asneededRepresent department and the organization favorably and inaccordance with established Company standards and associateattributes at all timesOther duties as assigned by managementLevel II - Fully meets the qualifications of Level I plus the following:
Manage issues and projects; resolve escalated issues as appropriate.Demonstrate superior understanding of Laboratory operationsQualifications
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Level I - Minimum
High School diploma or equivalent requiredSpecimen processing in a Clinical Laboratory setting or equivalentexperience preferredMust be comfortable with raw specimen handlingAbility to read, interpret, and comply with documents such asinternal SOPs, operating and maintenance instructions, and companypoliciesPosition may require evening and weekend hoursGoal oriented, with excellent time management and organizationalskillsExcellent interpersonal skills, with ability to interact effectivelyand work efficiently with people at all levels in an organizationExcellent verbal & written communication skillsKeenly attentive to detailAbility to keep sensitive information confidentialHigh level of proficiency with PC based software programs; strongdatabase skills; 1 year of data entry experience preferred withstrong typing skillsLevel II - Fully meets the qualifications of Level I plus the following:
