Job Summary
Dr. Caner Saygin\'s laboratory at the University of ChicagoComprehensive Cancer Center is seeking a highly motivated and talentedLab Manager to join our team. Our lab focuses on the investigation ofleukemia evolution from pre-leukemic states (e.g., clonal hematopoiesis)and development of novel experimental therapeutics for treatment ofacute leukemia. This position presents a unique opportunity tocontribute to groundbreaking research aimed at improving therapeuticapproaches and patient outcomes in acute leukemia.
Responsibilities
Conduct cutting-edge research on the molecular mechanisms ofleukemogenesis, including single cell multi-omics (RNA-seq,proteomics, DNA seq) analysis of primary human samples andtransgenic animal models with clonal hematopoiesis and acuteleukemia (AML and ALL).Study the mechanisms driving lymphoid vs myeloid leukemogenesis fromclonal hematopoiesis (in vivo models and patient samples).Design and execute experiments utilizing cell lines, patient-derivedsamples, and animal models to evaluate novel therapeutic strategies.Investigate mechanisms of treatment resistance in acute leukemia,including resistance to chemotherapy and targeted therapies.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams within the lab andestablish collaborations with external research groups.Analyze and interpret experimental data, prepare scientific reports,and present findings at national and international conferences.Publish research findings in scientific journals to contribute tothe scientific community\'s understanding of clonal hematopoiesisand acute leukemia.Lab management, including maintaining protocols (IACUC, IBC),ordering, assistance with creating budgets for clinical trials.Uses subject matter and best practices knowledge to perform laband/or research-related duties and tasks. Works independently toassist with project design.Solves complex problems relating to the administration of projects,including planning new procedures, adapting existing procedures tothe needs of the project, and making significant contributions tomethodology.Performs other related work as needed.Minimum Qualifications

Education:
Advanced degree in Molecular Biology, Cancer Biology, Hematology orrelevant field.Experience:
Experience in cell culture techniques, molecular biology techniques(PCR, cloning, Western blotting, etc.), and functional assays.Previous lab management experience.Preferred Competencies
Strong background in cancer biology, genetics, molecular signalingpathways, and/or hematological malignancies.Proficiency in bioinformatics and data analysis tools forhigh-throughput genomic data would be advantageous.Demonstrated ability to work independently, design and executeexperiments, and troubleshoot technical challenges.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the abilityto present research findings effectively.Strong publication record or evidence of potential to publish inpeer-reviewed scientific journals.Application Documents
