The role of an L3 Unix Support Technician is responsible for activities relating to the implementing and maintenance of platforms which are purpose-built in support of the Markets and Trading applications. You will have the opportunity to work with our global internal and external partners to drive future improvements in the performance of our technology infrastructure platforms, ensuring that we are increasing the reliability and optimizing its capacity. The overall objective is to use infrastructure technology knowledge and identified policies to build a secure, stable and efficient operating environment for our business to function and grow.
Responsibilities:
Review and approve new servers Design per Low Latency Linux standards with project manager and other infrastructure personnel. Review requirement documents, define hardware requirements and update processes and procedures as necessary.
Good understanding of Linux builds and monitoring tools, Proficient with performance and systems management. Plan, participate and support activities related to the Disaster Recovery testing, Data Center migration and document the results.
Setup, Configure, manage, and troubleshoot of Veritas volume manager and VCS cluster systems. Firmware deployment support for HP ILO and IDRAC. Familiarity with storage and backup technologies and its integration with virtual machines in a shared clustered environment (SAN, NAS, NetApp, NFS)
Knowledge and experience with Chef cookbooks, recipes, nodes, runlists, and attributes and how it integrates into cloud provisioning and configuration tasks. Understanding of Ansible and its use as a DeVos tool to support automation of manual tasks. Design testing approaches, complex processes, reporting streams, and assist with the automation of repetitive tasks.
Handle issues and escalations, as well as resolve production problems, reporting to management on status and technical matters. Co-ordinate with various teams to resolve issues and deliver project on time. Provide Root Cause Analysis (RCA) post restoration of service.
Plan and implement improved processes, backup and recovery plans, and uniform methodologies and standards. Willing to work after hours and weekends or be on-call if needed.
Requirements:
Good understanding of RedHat Linux 7/8, CoreOS and Openshift, Network and Domain Services (AD, DNS)
SME level knowledge of Linux OS Platform (Red Hat Enterprise Linux is preferred)
Experience in configuration of server hardware (preference towards HP/Dell hardware and understanding of ILO/iDRAC technology)
Good understanding of clustering concepts (experience with Veritas InfoScale will be a plus)
Experience in using Atlassian tools: Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket and understanding of Project Management concepts – both waterfall and agile methodologies
Understanding of Automation through CHEF and Ansible (understanding Ansible execution strategies, topology)
Understanding of SRE concepts and experience with OpenShift will be a plus
Ability to document complex processes and operate with a limited level of direct supervision
