QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
Journeyman Gas Fitter or equivalentHigh school diploma or equivalentAbility to successfully complete NWE Gas Operator Qualification program within 6 months to ensure qualification to perform assigned tasks including recognizing and reacting to abnormal operating conditions as specified in Title 49 CFR, Part 192 ValidCommercial Driver's License and satisfactory driving recordFirst Aid/CPR Certification, or obtain within 6 months of hireAbility to become plastic fusion certified within 6 monthsKnowledge of, or ability to learn, applicable codes and safety rules and regulationsCommitment to safe working practices and knowledge of safety policies/proceduresAbility to demonstrate and maintain a good safety recordMust live within an area approved by the company that allows for adequate response to our customers in call out and emergency situationsAbility to participate in on-call rotation schedules, work evenings and weekend shifts - especially in response to acute service needsAbility to lift and manipulate needed equipment weighing up to 75 poundsAbility to pass an employment physical, drug test and background checkNatural gas vocational training preferredAbility to pass and maintain 49 CFR Part 192 welding certification on a yearly basis preferred; API 1104 Certification also preferredAbility to weld steel pipe in accordance with Appendix C of 49 CFR, Part 192 preferredDUTIES INCLUDE:
Communicate verbally and understand audible signals in emergency/safety situationsRespond to natural gas emergencies, complete gas construction activities and perform service work as neededAssume leadership role in response to emergency situationsInteract with the publicOperate hand tools and heavy equipment including backhoes and trenchersHand-shovel dirt to dig and backfill trenchesInstall pipe, wrap pipes and jointsFuse plastic pipe, clean joints for clamping, operate fusion toolsInstall meters and regulatorsUse blueprints and advanced skilled knowledge to fabricate, service and construct gas linesUse tapping equipment to tap and stop-off gas linesAct as a job foreman overseeing all aspects of a project, including safety and planningComplete all documentation for project planning and completionPerform service-related work including but not limited to the following: meter reading, working with customers in their homes, gas leakage checks, CO checks, appliance checks, high bill complaint investigations, disconnecting and reestablishing services (gas turn-off/on), and lighting pilotsConduct scheduled leak surveys, operate various leak detection equipmentOrganize equipment and perform regular and preventative maintenanceWork as a team member to safely and efficiently complete work activitiesMaintain situational and safety awareness at all times and communicate as needed to maintain safety and efficiencyDrive to job locations; tow trailersMaintain Company buildings and facilities at work locations, including shop upkeep and snow removalAdapt to technological changes as they are implementedAdhere to company safety standards and the Code of Business Conduct EthicsEnsure all actions are consistent with NorthWestern Energy's values, mission, and strategic business objectivesFull-time position.
$54.09 per hour.
