Responsibilities
Teach 3-9 credit hours. Areas to be taught are courses in BroadcastJournalism, Journalism, or Public Relations at the 1000-level or above.Such courses may include, but are not limited to: Introduction toJournalism and Mass Media, Journalism Fundamentals, Reporting,Fundamentals of Public Relations, Beginning Photojournalism, BeginningLayout and Design and others.

An affiliate faculty member's duties include but are not limited to:teaching assigned classes in person or online by delivering course content tostudents, preparing course materials and lesson plans, grading studentwork, providing students with robust feedback in a timely manner,addressing student questions consistent with university, college/school,and department policies, and providing online or in person academic supportto students as needed and appropriate for the teaching assignment; providinginstruction in assigned classes consistent with the content and learningobjectives of the regular course syllabus and, if required, withdepartment course coordination policies; maintaining office hours;andcomplying with university-wide student evaluation of instruction policies andpeer observation policies.Applicants may be asked to teach in-person,online, or in hybrid capacities dependent upon course needs. The ability toadapt and learn new modes of instruction is highly encouraged. Candidates needto be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse student population.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Journalism or a related field, plus at least sixyears of professional, full-time experience in journalism
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Journalism or a related field plus at least six years ofprofessional, full-time experiencein journalism or a Doctorate in Journalismor a related field
Terms of Employment
Affiliate faculty are part-time, at-will employees hired to teach on a percredit hour basis for specific classes, usually on a semester-by-semesterbasis. Affiliate faculty are not eligible for benefit coverage under theU iversity's benefit program. All such teaching assignments are dependent onbudget and enrollment.
Qualified candidates will be expected to teach in person/on campus upon hire.
Salary for Announcement
The final salary is based on the number of credit hours assigned at a ratedetermined by university policy.
