Description

　　Amazon is looking for a results-oriented individual to deliver our Renewable Energy goals in Japan. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying and deploying innovative solutions to unlock new renewable energy opportunities to deliver low-cost renewable energy supply to AWS data centers, powering our operations with 100% renewable energy by 2025. The candidate will need to be able to identify key market conditions, regulations, and market structures to develop and deliver on a comprehensive renewable energy procurement and policy strategy for Japan. The optimal candidate will have a results-orientated approach, analytical skill set, strong financial acumen, an extensive network with developers, IPPs, utilities, funds, financiers, and regulators across the energy industry value chain and a strong track record of Renewable Energy transactions in Japan.

　　Key job responsibilities

　　• Lead renewable energy strategy and deployment in Japan through market transaction origination, structuring, project and financial diligence.

　　• Work collaboratively with other AWS teams to support the development of strategic renewable energy sourcing opportunities.

　　• Analyze trends and regulations in the energy space to proactively identify opportunities that benefit Amazon.

　　• Work with power utilities and energy regulators to develop policies and guidelines that enable broader AWS strategies and objectives.

　　Basic Qualifications

　　• At least 10+ years of experience working in energy/infrastructure/finance industry

　　• A proven experience in market innovation, structured energy transactions and complex contract negotiations

　　• Deep experience in power and renewable energy markets in Japan

　　• Proven track record for cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders and senior executives in the renewable energy industry

　　• Strong written and communication skills in the English language and Japanese

　　Preferred Qualifications

　　• Master’s Degree (MBA/MS) preferred

　　• Strong background in renewable energy transactions and origination, energy innovation projects and infrastructure development

　　• Experience working with energy regulators and utilities

　　• Prior experience in power and renewable energy markets in other global regions

　　• Experience with IT infrastructure, data centers and cloud services
