OVERVIEW: The Janitor is an entry-level non-exempt position thatreports to the Facilities Management Team. The Janitor is responsiblefor the interior/exterior cleanliness of the building; trash removal,and special projects as assigned. DUTIES: Clean building floors,stairs, and mezzanines by sweeping mopping, or vacuuming. Operate floorscrubber when required. Gathering of trash/pallets/recycling to bepicked up by trash collectors. Operate compactor and dumpster controlsonce trained. Clean and sanitize restrooms/cafeterias using establishedpractices and procedures. Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors,using glass cleaners, sponges, and squeegees. Clean, dust, and disinfecthigh-touch areas/equipment throughout the facility. Mix water anddetergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions,according to specifications. All containers must be properly labeled.Clean all ceiling diffusers. Move heavy furniture, equipment, andsupplies, either manually or by using hand trucks. Remove snow fromsidewalks, driveways, and parking areas, using snow equipment and snowshovels, and spread snow-melting chemicals. Assist maintenance withprojects; Set up, arrange, and remove tables, chairs, and labfurniture/equipment to prepare facilities for events. Minimum 1 year of experience in thecustodial filed Driver\'s license to travel between the buildings.Ability to read and communicate in English effectively. Ability toidentify Hazardous and Chemical warning labels. M-F 10:00 am-7:00 pmPreferred: Knowledge of GPM/GLP Bi-lingual in languages for English andSpanish Physical Requirements Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.Physical strength and agility are required to operate cleaningequipment, to safely lift and carry furniture, and bags of trash.Ability to climb stairs and ladders; ability to reach overhead forextended periods. Be able to push, pull, carry, or maneuver heavieritems with additional manpower or appropriate devices. Able to traversethe facility, carry and climb ladders, work from heights, and crawlunder equipment. Able to function in extreme hot and cold weather andnon-weather conditions, such as freezers and outside work-relatedissues. This is a partial job description.
