About IT Specialist (Enterprise Architecture)

  Summary This position is located in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), Enterprise Architecture (EA) Division. The Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) provides information technology (IT) leadership, guidance and support services that improve the OJP mission, management and internal controls by delivering timely IT solutions. Responsibilities Serves as an Enterprise Architect (EA) in the Enterprise Architecture (EA) Division for Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), U. S. Department of Justice (DOJ). Establishes governances, standards, and processes that will facilitate the sharing and exchange of enterprise information while improving business and IT services inter and intra agencies stakeholders. Serves as a technical specialist in the planning and coordinating, maintenance, and upgrade of enterprise software and related enterprise-level changes to an IT infrastructure. Assess and determines the need for augmented EA policies and procedures, implement changes, and ensures EA compliance across OJP. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Basic Entry Requirements: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Specialized Experience for GS-11: Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level. Specialized experience is experience which is in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience include: Participates in enterprise architectural improvement initiatives. Participates in IT projects involving interrelated technology specialty areas and multiple stages of the systems development lifecycle. Participates in the implementation of agency process improvement methods and concepts to improve the quality of software products. Substitution of Education for Experience for GS-11: Education requirements at the GS-11 level may be met by three (3) full academic years of graduate level education or the successful completion of a Ph.D. or LL.M., if related. Combination of Education and Experience for GS-11: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed education and experience may be used to meet the experience requirements. Specialized Experience for GS-12: Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level. Specialized experience is experience which is in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience include: Assists in resolving emerging issues impacting the implementation and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems and subsystems, including configuration matters. Supports the comprehensive enterprise architectural system coordination and maintenance projects, such as those related to system cost efficiency and security of networked applications. Aids in providing evaluation of requirements, analyzes alternatives and recommends technical solutions relating to the complete life cycle for information systems and information systems components. Specialized Experience for GS-13: Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level. Specialized experience is experience which is in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience include: Plans and/or manages enterprise architectural improvement initiatives. Resolves emerging issues impacting the implementation and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems and subsystems, including configuration matters. Plans and/or manages IT projects involving interrelated technology specialty areas and multiple stages of the systems development lifecycle. Plans and/or manages the implementation of agency process improvement methods and concepts to improve the quality of software products. Education There is no education requirement for this position. Additional Information This position may be eligible for telework per agency policy. OJP offers opportunities for flexible work schedules. Recruitment incentives may be authorized. This position included in the bargaining unit. This position has a duty station of Washington, D.C. The selectee will be required to physically report to the OJP office building at least four (4) days per bi-weekly pay period and may incorporate leave and official travel plans into this reporting requirement. The office director or supervisor may request the selectee's presence in the office more frequently, as determined by the needs of the office. The selectee will be responsible for covering all commuting-related travel expenses. OJP employees are eligible for one transportation benefit - parking or the Department of Justice (DOJ) transit subsidy.
