The Position
Information Technology (IT) Managers are responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the IT activities, in one or more IT specialization areas, of the State, a department, or a division.
Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
This recruitment is for an IT Manager 1 position responsible for the Facility Operations unit within the Governor's Office of the Chief Information Officer's Computing Division in Carson City, Nevada. Primary duties of this position include supervisory staff management, organizational leadership, project planning, contract management, and budget for the unit. The OCIO Facility Operations unit is a dynamic and diverse 24x7x365 team staffed with IT and Mechanical Section technicians. The IT Technicians are responsible for the continuous monitoring of the AIX (LINUX/UNIX) and IBM mainframe (z/OS) batch production, modifications to the LINUX/UNIX and z/OS job schedules, large volume printing, monitoring all physical equipment housed within the OCIO Computer Facility and notifying the OCIO Mainframe, UNIX, Network, and other teams along with other State of Nevada agencies of software and hardware failures. The Mechanical Section technicians are responsible for maintaining and supporting the OCIO Computer Facility's building environmental systems such as the HVAC, boilers, UPS, generator, as well as some data center physical security and fire suppression systems. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and five years of progressively responsible professional IT experience which involved project management, quality assurance, and computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, or applications analysis and development. Two years of this experience must have been in a supervisory or project manager capacity; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.Special Requirements
