Successful candidate(s)chosen to fulfill the Citysinternship position(s) will have an opportunity tobe involved with significant projects alongside the day-to-dayduties involved in the operation of a municipality.Internships may be available across the City including within Administration, Albemarle Fire Department, Albemarle Police Department, Parks and Recreation, Public Housing, Public Utilities, Public Works, Planning and Development, Finance, Human Resources, and Information Systems.

　　Day to day responsibilities would include job shadowing theAssistantCity Manager, attendingDepartment Head meetings, working with the CityClerk, and interactingwith employees from various other City Departments.

　　Required Skills:

　　Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs particularly Microsoft Word.

　　Excellent oral and written communication skills

　　Ability to work well and interact with members of the public as well as membersof the Citys various departments, Department Heads and City Council.

　　Desire to participate in and contribute tolocalgovernment at the grass rootslevel.

　　Good sense of appropriate office attire

　　Ability to study unfamiliar material, condense that material into its most essentialelements and create a cohesive document.

　　Ability to conduct research and interact professionally with other municipalities

　　Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize,multitask and meet deadlines.

　　Internswill gain experience working ineithera professional office environment and/or field operations and mayhave the opportunity to directly interact with other municipalities, internal Cityemployees and Department Heads and members of thegeneral public.

　　Interns will be exposed tomultipleaspects of municipal government.
