Canadian National Railway Company (CN) is looking for a highly motivated person to fulfill a full-time (40h/week) Intern, Data Governance and Quality position in Montreal, QC from May - August 2024.
Job Summary
The Intern, Data Governance and Quality is responsible for working between both practices, supporting data governance and quality framework implementation from a people, technology and process perspective. The purpose of data governance at CN is to ensure via data definitions, policies, standards, rules, roles, and responsibilities that information is managed as a strategic business asset in the same manner as the rail equipment. It gets complemented with the discipline of Data Quality Management (DQM), which ensures that the data is "fit for its purpose" in the context of existing business operations, analytics, and digital business scenarios.
Major Responsibilities
Analyze data with data profiling and visualization tools in order to identify issues and recommend improvement actionsDesign and build data quality rules to validate the quality of data, as well as dashboards and metrics to monitor itEnsure the organization has a common understanding of the data by supporting the continuous enrichment of CN's business glossarySupport training activities and provide functional support to users for the Data Governance and Quality platformSupport Data Governance Advisors on the classification of data in a security and privacy context and help prioritize data related risks with Data Stewards, Owners, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)Support Data Governance Advisors on the development of standards, policies and proceduresProvide technical assurance for the on-going implementation of the data governance policy within the business
Requirements
Experience in a data related internship
Education
Working towards a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Analytics or Business
Any experience/education/skills/knowledge for these above would be considered as an asset
