About Intern - Civil Engineering

  AHBL is a multidisciplinary firm offering services in civil and structural engineering, planning, landscape architecture, and land surveying to public and private clients alike. We believe that through innovative planning, design, and engineering, we improve our communities and build collaborative partnerships one project at a time. We are looking for candidates interested in a 2024 summer Civil Engineering internship in our Tacoma office. As an intern, you will gain valuable experience through hands-on learning and exposure to a variety of projects. Internships will begin in May or June at approximately 40 hours per week and will be approximately 12 - 14 weeks in duration.WHAT YOU WILL DOCivil Engineering interns will work with experienced engineers to bring their classroom knowledge to the real world. Some areas of work may include hydraulic/hydrology calculations, quantity take-offs/cost estimates, drainage reports and calculations, AutoCAD and Civil 3D, and project research and feasibility studies.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSCurrently enrolled in a Civil Engineering degree program and have completed junior level courseworkPossess an interest in stormwater, road, and/or utility design and a desire to contribute to a team-based environmentStrong analytical, conceptual, communication, and organizational skillsDESIRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience in CAD along with classroom experience in stormwater modeling, grading, drainage, sanitary sewer, water distribution, and roadsCOMPENSATION$22 - $25 per hourActual rate of pay will be based on the level of coursework completed, previous experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.BENEFITSFull time interns may be benefits eligible depending on length of service and agency benefit terms.Six (6) paid holidaysMedical BenefitsSupplemental BenefitsWashington State sick payRetirement SavingsEXTRASReal-world experienceNetworking opportunities with professionalsPotential for full-time employment after graduationAt AHBL, we value actions that are open, honest, and respectful, and we lead with the highest moral integrity, which guides all our actions.
