Description
We are offering a role situated in Dallas, Texas, in the legal industry. The position is for a Legal Secretary, who will be tasked with providing secretarial support within our Insurance Defense Litigation and Coverage Section. The role involves working with a team of attorneys and demands a high level of organization, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
• Provide administrative support to a team of attorneys in the practice of law
• Assist in the preparation for hearings, trials, mediations, arbitrations, depositions, and meetings
• Type pleadings, discovery, briefs, status reports, and correspondence from dictation
• Maintain, organize, and manage client files
• Docket and calendar deadlines
• Organize and sort emails for attorneys
• Manage electronic and paper filing systems (state and federal)
• Enter attorney time into the billing system and assist with billing and appeals of deductions
• Handle multiple tasks simultaneously and provide coverage when other secretaries are absent
• Exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Requirements • Proficiency in LexisNexis and other legal research tools
• Experience with Management Systems
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites including Word, PowerPoint, and Access
• Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook for email and calendar management
• Ability to carry out Billing Functions
• Experience in preparing Briefings and other legal documents
• Proficient in Calendar Management
• Ability to transcribe Dictation
• Strong skills in Documentation and record keeping
• Prior experience as a Legal Secretary or similar role in a law firm or legal department
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Bachelor's degree in legal studies or related field, or equivalent work experience.
