  Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Instrument & Control Technician located at Gerald Gentleman Station in Sutherland , Nebraska. Position closes February 4, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time.

  This position will report to the Instrument & Control Manager.

  Position Summary

  Safely maintain and repair the instrumentation, controls, computers, Distributed Control Systems (DCS), and various supervisory/safety related controls systems associated with Gerald Gentleman Station. Maintain the integrity and accuracy of equipment that monitors and controls federal, state and local regulated systems. Provide detailed record keeping and database management associated with the equipment.

  Education, Training and Experience

  Incumbent must be recommended based on the Power Plant Maintenance Selection System (MASS) results.

  Two-year Associates Degree in Electronic/Electrical/Mechatronics discipline or related field, and 3 years of experience as an I&C Technician in an industrial setting

  OR

  Equivalent military training, and 3 years of experience as an I&C Technician in an industrial setting

  OR

  High School diploma/GED and either: 1) a minimum of 5 years of experience as an I&C Technician an industrial setting, or 2) completion of an I&C Technician apprentice program, or 3) other work experience or demonstrated performance indicating that the applicant has the skills and ability to perform the required duties of the position.

  Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  Troubleshoot and repair equipment associated with a Distributive Control System (DCS), including tuning, configuration, maintaining process databases, generating reports, diagnosing system problems, and replace/restore faulty modules within various integrated controls systems.

  Calibrate, test, configure, and maintain the various environmental monitoring systems within the operation of GGS, in accordance with regulations set forth by various regulatory agencies, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy (NDEE), and Nebraska Natural Resources District (NRD). Provide detailed record keeping directly related to the maintenance and repair of associated equipment.

  Provide problem-solving skills to monitor, tune, and repair various integrated control systems that automatically operate critical station equipment to maximize station reliability and efficiency.

  Troubleshoot, calibrate, repair, and verify the proper configuration of various process control instrumentation, such as transmitters, meters, controllers, indicators, analyzers, actuators, positioners, motor operated valves, etc.

  Maintain detailed equipment history on instrumentation and control systems.

  Program/configure the station's programmable logic controllers utilizing application software from various manufacturers.

  Configure, test, and maintain radio control "Canopy" systems for remote controlling equipment, and environmental monitoring.

  Maintain and repair plant communications and emergency warning systems.

  Maintain various communication and security systems in accordance with North American Electric Reliability Commission (NERC), cyber and physical security regulations.

  Salary Information - Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth.

  Pay Grade - 13 Hourly

  Typical Pay Grade Starting Salary Range: $38.35 - $47.94

  Travel Required: Up to 25% (With no or minimal overnight stays, less than 3 per month, typically within state of Nebraska) Travel required may fluctuate by business need. This is an estimate and will be discussed further with candidates that receive an interview.
