　　The Opportunity

　　The Purchasing Specialist is primarily responsible for assisting the Subcontracts Specialists in identifying and soliciting vendors and conducting purchasing.

　　Responsibilities

　　Assist in the preparation of basic charts and reports for Subcontract Specialists and management to support analysis and management of procurement elements Conduct basic negotiations in consultation with Subcontracts Specialists in relation to buying terms with vendors Ensure completion of required administrative tasks related to buying (writing purchase orders, new item set-up, pricing worksheets, etc.). Support Subcontracts specialists in tasks related to higher-value procurement transactions. Enter data, run queries, perform updates and edit databases for Subcontracts Specialists, management and other customers to ensure data integrity and timeliness. Oversee monitoring and reporting on management of deliveries, including late deliveries, incorrect/partial deliveries, incorrect invoices Prepare and review correspondence with subcontractors and suppliers in regard to commercial issues including performance assessments, risk management, delays and invoicing Perform assigned activities in compliance with procedures and provided systems and tools Experience/Qualifications

　　To be successful in this role:

　　Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal). The ability to manage multiple tasks effectively while working to schedule commitments Proven ability to display a positive and flexible attitude, self-motivated and efficient Ability to prioritise work as required with guidance from Senior Subcontracts Specialists Demonstrated skills in successfully negotiating contracts / subcontracts is desirable Understanding of Defence Contracting policies and procedures is desirable Australia citizenship to meet Australian Defence security requirements.
