SUMMARY: Oversees the management of innovation for ClarkDietrich. Ensures strategic direction, leadership, and oversight of innovation that will deliver new ideas and processes from concept to completion. Daily responsibilities include representing Business Innovation initiatives, managing and reporting on project status, including presentation of road map, current state and timelines, cultivating and managing innovation project pipeline and building strong peer relationships to enable a consulting style partnership that will deliver solutions in a timely and cost-effective manner. This role will review current manufacturing processes and work to develop solutions to drive efficiency across the organization. The Engineering function is a multi-disciplined function that provides technical support to all other functions and is responsible for technology research, innovative process development, and the delivery of complete manufacturing processes. Provides support for installation, testing and commissioning of new equipment. JOB PURPOSE: Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, the primary purpose of the role is tracking the latest scientific and engineering advancements and identifying technology that can be utilized to create novel solutions to previously unsolved complex problems. As an experienced process innovator, the role will work within the Manufacturing Engineering team to define new pioneering process visions and complete initial proof of concept studies to determine technical feasibility. The role will build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, relentlessly striving to ensure the real-world problems are well understood and any technology solutions proposed are commercially and operationally viable. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Researching and tracking the latest scientific and engineering advancements in technology areas identified as strategic to ClarkDietrich. - Works with different departments of the organization to identify and determine areas of innovation, automation, and growth. - Facilitates brainstorming and ideation activities and distilling credible ideas that could solve real world problems. - Share and communicates technology insights and trends within the Engineering group and wider business. - Project oversight from initial idea to capital request development and final project implementation. - Driving development at pace, recognizing that it is as important to stop wrong projects as it is to promote good ones. - Developing and defining process design specifications and scopes of work in sufficient detail that enables others to complete detailed design and engineering for new processes. - Performs external industry research and analysis to identify automation and innovation opportunities. - Develops, monitors, and reports cost-saving initiatives. Able to make recommendations and implement solutions. - Collaborates with Operations, Engineering, and Business Development to implement projects - Expands and drives innovation and standardization of automation across the facilities to meet short and long-term goals of business needs. - Drives change management across the organization, including skills development and training for process and innovation changes. - Other related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: - Strong strategic thinking, planning, process improvement and innovation skillset - Results oriented focus with ability to meet challenging timelines and deliverables - Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills - Ability to drive and influence cross functional initiatives to deliver results - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - Understands available technology and how it could be applied to the company - Project and change management experience - Effectively promote your vision and ideas to all levels across the organization.
