Job Description: Summary: The individual in this role will join a talented and collaborative team of professionals who will support the intern as they explore their interests and build their professional experience at the intersection of computer science, engineering, and environmental science.The intern will support various teams and projects including data infrastructure, artificial intelligence, and automation. The role will support both internal and client facing initiatives. Responsibilitiesinclude: Usingtools such as Python, Power BI, and Excel to automate data transformation and visualization processes Participating in Barr's Data Resource Groupand supporting technology fora wide variety of engineering and scientific project work Working with artificial intelligence and machine learning initiatives, such as working with teams to fine-tune large language model applications Collaborating with various teams to collectrequirements and user stories to builddigital tools and processes Participating in process improvements and special projects as assigned Shadowing various aspects of business and IS operations Minimum Qualifications: Ongoing enrollment in a management information systems, computer science, data science, or related program such as engineering with an emphasis on technology Junior or senior standing with a minimum of one full-time semester of undergraduate or graduate course work remaining after the internship Experience coding in Python and other programming languages Familiarity with key concepts around machine learning Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel Excellent oral and written communication skills Strong problem-solving skills and desire to learn Strong team mentality with a willingness to assist where needed to contribute to the group's success Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, time management, and follow through Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the future Preferred qualifications: Strong capabilities in Python and the libraries Pandas, Sklearn, and SciPy Experience with creating training datasets for machine learning Experience with environmentaldata This position is based out of Barr's Minneapolis, Minnesota, office. #LI-Hybrid Open positions at Barr Engineering do not have application deadlines.
