  The Industrial Engineer Co-op will work at the Melbourne, FL facility for the Summer and Fall semesters of 2024. This position is for an Industrial, Mechanical, Process Engineering student interested in gaining hands-on experience in manufacturing. The selected candidate will work in a cross-functional team that applies manufacturing concepts, techniques, analysis, and decision tools to promote and implement changes. The candidate should have good written and verbal communication skills that is willing to learn and has the ability to work in a dynamic manufacturing environment. This position is full-time, Monday-Friday, and will run May/June to December; it is only eligible for current students with a graduation date past December 2024.

  Primary Responsibilities:

  Responsible for technical problem definition and solution in a manufacturing environment. Acts as liaison with design engineering on incorporating changes to designs to improve manufacturability.

  Develop tools that enable manufacturing, aid process improvement or address safety concerns. Frequent use of general/technical knowledge and industry/functional practices, techniques and standards.

  Conducts studies pertaining to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control through the application of Lean principles.

  Supports Lean/Six Sigma initiatives including 5S, Waste Reduction, and Flow Improvements.

  Plans and designs facilities and layout for manufacturing processes and equipment, taking into account economic factors, process flow, operator efficiency and comfort.

  Determines proper flow and sequence of material for efficient build process

  Eliminate/reduce defects and improve test yields. Perform root cause analysis and take corrective action to resolve failures.

  Basic Qualifications:

  Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.

  U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.

  The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

  Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

  Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

  This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
