Job Description:GENERAL PURPOSEUnder supervision, assist lawyers with obtaining immigration benefits on behalf of clients under the regulations of the U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services, U.S. Department of Labor, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and the U.S. Department of State.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThese essential functions are primary job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation.Maintains positive contact with clients and lawyers in other departments and observes confidentiality of client matters.Prepares complex petitions and application forms, and support documentation related to benefits provided under U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services regulations.Prepares complex applications and supporting documentation pertaining to the issuance of nonimmigrant and immigrant visas by the U.S. Department of State.Prepares complex applications and supporting documentation to the U.S. Department of Labor for the PERM labor certification.Communicates with federal agencies in connection with acquiring immigration benefits on behalf of clients.Keeps current on federal regulations as they pertain to immigration matters.Be present at work during regularly scheduled working hours and as needed in the job position, consistent with the firm's attendance expectations.SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIREDExcellent organization and communication skills. Possess excellent organizational skills with close attention to detail. Ability to communicate professionally and to establish professional working relationships with an assistant, the firm's lawyers, other paralegals and business professionals, clients, and other professionals. Sound knowledge of regulations pertaining to the petitioning of nonimmigrant and immigrant visas, and other related immigrant benefits. Ability to handle multiple tasks and multiple concurrent deadlines, work well under pressure and independently.SPECIFIC SKILLS PREFERREDDemonstrated ability to take initiative and exercise discretion and independent judgment. Demonstrated legal writing and research skills.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCERequires a minimum of two years of related experience in business immigration law or equivalent. BA degree in a related field or equivalent required.
