Earth Sciences and Engineering specializes in site planning, spatial information and digital terrain modeling, surface and subsurface investigations, rock mechanics, underground structures, geotechnical laboratory services, flood forecasting and water resource management through our geotechnical, hydrotechnical, and civil site development expertise.

Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Hydrogeology Intern to join our Earth Sciences and Engineering (ESE) group, supporting our growing team in Calgary, Alberta or Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

In alignment with this organizational growth our ESE delivery practice is expanding globally and is currently comprised of over six hundred professionals focused on Hatch's business sectors (Energy, Infrastructure, and Mining) in earth related disciplines, including: Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, Hydrogeology, Hydrology, Civil Engineering, Geospatial Sciences, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Position Summary:
The Hatch Earth Sciences and Engineering group is seeking a Hydrogeology Intern for the work term beginning May 2024. Reporting to our team of Senior Hydrogeologists you will support projects globally based out of Calgary, Alberta or Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Responsibilities:
Supporting various field assignments including hydrogeological field investigations, data processing, and report writing.
Assist in analysis and interpretation of field test data, including slug tests, pumping tests and groundwater quality data.
Assist in numerical groundwater modelling, including data preparation, running modelling scenarios, and collation of modelling results.
Provide general support for intermediate and senior hydrogeologists with tasks such as data assessment, field program logistics, and desktop historical data reviews.
Education and Experience:
Pursing a degree in Hydrogeology, Earth Sciences, Geological Engineering or equivalent
Excel academically while being actively involved in extra-curricular and/or volunteer activities at school or in the community
Excellent analytical, writing, and oral communication skills
Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
Technical proficiency in Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel
Students will be assigned to work closely with experienced engineers who will provide guidance and mentoring
Competencies (knowledge, skill, attributes):
Good understanding of scientific and business fundamentals as they apply to scientific problems and projects
Ability to learn quickly and to take on new challenges
Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
