*Medical Records Specialist I -- Hybrid, Seattle *

[POSITION PURPOSE:]{.underline}
As the entry-level of Medical Records, the Medical Record Specialist I conduct medical record pursuits and retrieves records, electronic and physical, for key reporting functions. Projects that the MRS I participate in include Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS), risk adjustment retrieval as requested, as well as ad hoc projects that require the pursuit and retrieval of medical records.
[PRINCIPAL DUTIES:]{.underline}
Electronic Record Collection: Based on training criteria, identify key portions of the record to be collected and, following standards, extract and save this information in a standard format for later review. Complete work meeting and maintaining the department individual productivity standard.Record Retrieval Preparation: Ensure retrieved records are complete and ready for further review by confirming member identifiers, ensuring all needed portions of the record are present, checking file quality and naming standards and document this information into standard software reporting tools.Record Review Preparation: Ensure received records are complete and ready for review by confirming member identifiers, ensuring documentation standards are met, and checking for presence of clinical information used for compliance, including the appropriate codes to be utilized.Retrieval Liaison: Work with providers to set up schedule to retrieve records, via remote access or sent by fax or by encrypted drop box. As necessary, connect the retrieval with provider site points of contact to clarify requests made when specific information is omitted from records previously submitted for review.Traveling onsite to provider offices throughout the State of Washington is required.[QUALIFICATIONS:]{.underline}
[Education]{.underline} & [Prior Related Experience]{.underline}:
Have a High School diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree or a year for year of relevant experience preferred.
Have a valid Washington State driver's license and access to an automobile for work.
Have a minimum of one year in Electronic Health Records/ Electronic Medical Records systems (EHR/ EMR); preferred.
Have strong knowledge of organization and content of medical records, especially electronic medical records.
