Job Description Summary
The CAD Designer role is part of the Facilities Engineering group at the Huntsville Site. This position will support teams during design, fabrication, assembly, and documentation phases by preparing and maintaining Engineering design drawings, production drawings and other related documentation per GE Aerospace standards utilizing 2D and 3D drafting tools.

Essential Responsibilities
Prepares and maintains engineering drawings for the Huntsville CMC site, including but not limited to: P&ID’s, piping isometrics, electrical one-line diagrams, general arrangements, utility diagrams, electrical panel drawings, etc.
Responsible for managing and prioritizing multiple drafting/mechanical design assignments.
Maintains drafting database to ensure drawing and documentation revisions are up to date and accurate.
Takes active role in the site change management process for design changes requiring documentation updates.
Able to design and translate to drawing basic piping systems and small manufactured parts.
Works within site project teams and lends assistance with design drawing expertise and management of incoming design documentation.
Develops efficient equipment layouts based on production flow and equipment maintainability.
Interprets verbal or written direction to draft preliminary designs which follow GE Aerospace and industry standard good engineering practices.
Manages and revises site red-lined drawings.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED
Minimum of 5 years' experience in Mechanical Design/CAD Drafting
Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD drafting suites
Must be able to interpret P&ID’s, process flow diagrams, instrument single line drawings and other common chemical process drawing data.
This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment
Desired Characteristics
Associate degree in Mechanical Design/CAD Drafting
Previous experience successfully managing multiple assignments through standard work processes.
Previous experience with Navisworks and Solidworks 3D modeling software or equivalent.
Able to work with multi-disciplined teams and manage multiple competing priorities
This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
