  Nuclear & Environmental Services, a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division, is seeking an experienced HR Professional to engage, influence and provide successful multi-domain (HRBP, TA, Compensation, Benefits, Learning etc.) HR expertise in support of the Nuclear and Environmental Group within Mission Technologies. This is an exciting opportunity to implement and drive creative and unique Human Capital Solutions by partnering with key stakeholders throughout HR and leaders in an HR Manager role out of our office in the Newport News, VA location. At HII, Human Resources is focused on understanding what people need and knowing how to provide it.

  The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, self-motivated/self-starter champion and partner who can advise leaders, be a trusted partner with the business, understand the business, and provide outstanding customer service to employees. The successful person possesses the following skills:

  • System Savvy – You are skilled with systems and learning new tools enabling you to recommend the appropriate systems resulting in an environment that is easy to navigate and access artifacts for the stakeholder community.

  • Self-driven – You have superior integrity, organizational skills, and great follow through on tasks. You do not get overwhelmed easily and prefer to work with minimal supervision.

  • Master Juggler - You understand how to manage multiple priorities and understand how the little pieces fit together. Prior experience executing human capital solutions is preferred.

  Responsibilities: I want to and can do that!

  Administration of Human Resources policies and procedures.

  Assists with the implementation and administration of HR activities to effectively meet strategic goals and objectives.

  Partners with business operations to ensure a complete understanding of business needs and objectives.

  Assists with talent management, performance management and employee relations activities.

  Responsible for new employee orientation, onboarding, associated activities, and logistics including personnel file management.

  Conducts exit interviews and associated activities and logistics. Supports retention initiatives.

  Works with other members of HR staff to ensure EEO/AA/OFCCP compliance.

  Assists in policy interpretation and process implementation on general routine benefit, payroll, and other HC actions.

  Other duties as assigned.

  What you must have:

  • 0 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field or High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years relevant experience.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365, Excel, and PowerPoint, with experience in Success Factors preferred.

  • Exceptional attention to detail, multitasking, organizational, and time management skills.

  • Proven communication and customer service skills, with the ability to establish effective working relationships with employees and managers at all levels of the organization.

  • Flexibility to work extended hours when necessary to meet deadlines.

  • Willingness to travel to other business locations, which may require overnight stays.

  • Resourcefulness, sound judgement, and the ability to identify and escalate issues that pose a risk or are complex.

  • High regard for protocol and confidentiality.

  Preferred Requirements

  • Knowledge of federal, state, local and federal contractor employment laws and compliance programs; experience researching and implementing human resources best practices.

  • Experience with SCA and Union regulations for government contractors highly desired.

  • Experience working with the Department of Energy

  • Ability to manage a high volume of assignments with varying complexity and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment with integrity and professionalism.

  • Superb conflict resolution skills to reach satisfactory resolutions for employee relations issues.

  Physical Requirements

  Job performance will normally require only minor lifting and carrying of boxes of records or equipment.
