Provides leadership, direction,and systematic tactical guidance to transform clinical practice andadvance medical science by leveraging Human Factors and SystemsEngineering principles and methods to improve quality care outcomes,enhance safety for patients and staff, and advance new knowledge.Requires specialized expertise in the body of knowledge, methods, andskills related to Human Factors Engineering, Sociotechnical Systems,Safety Science, quality improvement and event reviews/hazard analyses.Requires the ability to engage diverse clinical and non-clinical leadersand client groups in order to help them quickly identify areas of needand tailor human factors solutions to unique challenges. Other duties asassigned. EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION: A minimum of 5 years clinicalexperience as an engineer in a healthcare environment of similarcomplexity; graduate research qualifies. Grounded in the principles ofHFE, safety science, cognitive science, social science, and usabilityengineering, as well as the clinical and basic sciences. Must have ledat least 3 large scale, multi-disciplined, HFE/ Socio-technical/SafetyScience driven projects. 2 years of involvement in multiple largecross-functional teams and projects influencing senior level managementand key stakeholders preferred. EDUCATION DESCRIPTION: MS in HumanFactors/Ergonomics or related degree (e.g. Industrial and SystemsEngineering) is required. PhD is preferred. TRAINING DESCRIPTION: Basicstatistics, Microsoft Office, Epic Demonstrated ability to write andpresent HFE in healthcare activities, demonstrated ability to articulatemedical science. Experience with Change Management. SPECIAL SKILLSDESCRIPTION: Comfortable in clinical settings. Strong analyticalthinking and problem-solving skills.
