  POSITION SUMMARY:As an Intern within the IMCS Production group, the individual will be responsible for assisting in the management and oversight of internal Amtrak Capital construction projects within the Mid-Atlantic Division. This position will have duties in both the office and field environment. The individual will work under close supervision of Production managers and in collaboration with all levels of stakeholders. Individuals in this role use engineering & construction management knowledge as well as analytical skills to support assigned projects, including but not limited to:

  Critical Path Project schedule developmentSupport project production reportingAnalyze production unit efficiencies and delaysMonitors and journals in field modifications for as built drawingsWork with production team members and subject matter experts to develop project execution plans

  ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Collect, consolidate, and review project performance data from field personnelSupport project teams with production reporting, weekly look ahead development, delay reporting, summary of data analysis and other processes to ensure compliance with department procedures and standardsAssist in development and review of project critical path scheduling and project execution planAssist in the development of Site Specific Safety Work Plan (SSSWP) to ensure safety of the jobMaintains, supports, and promotes a safe work environment while complying with all of Amtrak's safety rules, policies, and procedures.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited educational institution.Must be actively pursuing an undergraduate/graduate degree in electrical engineeringMust have at least 1 year of academic undergraduate studies completed or a sophomore status at minimum.Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher

  PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Relevant work experience (e.g., internships, summer positions, school jobs)2 years of academic ungraduated studies completed or a junior statusCumulative GPA of 3.2 or higherMust have the ability to coordinate efforts with other technical disciplinesStrong Safety FocusDemonstrated experience in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, MS Project) sufficient to prepare effective business analyses, production logs, and presentations.Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:Must have excellent oral and written communication skills

  The hourly range is $17.50 per hour - $35.00 per hour. Pay is based on factors including school year, program of study, etc. In addition paid internships include Amtrak rail pass privileges as a part of the experience along with one (1) PTO day per academic year.

If an applicant/employee refuses to provide written consent for Amtrak to obtain these records, the individual will not be permitted to perform safety-sensitive functions.

  In accordance with federal law governing security checks of covered individuals for providers of public transportation (Title 6 U.S.C. *1143), Amtrak is required to screen applicants for any permanent or interim disqualifying criminal offenses.

  Note that any education requirement listed above may be deemed satisfied if you have an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
