GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This position provides support to our Allied Health Department, including managing Central Supply and assisting in the Dental Department. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.
Manage central supply for WLRC.
Assist dentist and hygienist in providing dental care for residents and provide emotional support and encouragement to the residents.
Prepare and supply instruments as needed during procedures; aid in documentation of treatments and exams.
Schedule residents for periodontal therapy as determined by the dentist and hygienist.
Assist in training new employees on oral hygiene during orientation classes.
Provide individual training to staff or residents in the living areas as needed.
Assist in instructing staff on the proper oral hygiene procedures during resident routine periodontal therapy.
Stock dental operatories with supplies needed for procedures.
Inventory supplies and order stock as needed in compliance with agency policy.
Assist in monitoring stock levels and identify purchasing needs.
Assist with monthly inventory counts.
Place orders with established vendors and purchase orders in compliance with agency policy.
Document and report any product or billing issues to the appropriate manager.
Work with managers to develop profitable purchasing strategies.
Process weekly orders from requesting areas.
Assist in the distribution of supplies in accordance with agency protocols.
Update the internal database with new purchase order details, weekly residential orders, and transfers of supplies.
Assist with other duties as delegated by the Allied Health manager, dentist, or hygienist.
Attend meetings and trainings as assigned.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES:
Preference may be given to applicants with six months or more of experience as a Dental Assistant.
KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of health practices.
Knowledge of resident needs.
Knowledge of Intermediate Care Facility and Skilled Nursing Facility regulations.
Knowledge of state and facility policies and procedures.
Ability to provide training and education to residents and staff.
Knowledge of and ability to operate medical equipment.
Knowledge of and ability to consistently use and demonstrate basic principles of infection control.
Skills in time management, organization, and computer usage.
Ability to communicate in a positive and effective manner with residents, staff, and stakeholders.
Ability to accept responsibility and accountability for decisions.
Ability to work with and around WLRC residents, including those who may display challenging behaviors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Associate's Degree (typically in Healthcare)
Experience:
No prior experience required
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
1-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Healthcare)

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be able to:
Safely move (twisting, bending, lifting, kneeling, pushing, pulling), position and lift people with multiple and severe disabilities.
Ability to monitor sounds, noises, locations of residents, etc., in order to assure safety and assess imminent danger and emerging concerns.
Ability to work alone and/or with multiple residents.
Ability to use behavior management techniques and intervene during resident behavior episodes, as necessary.
Ability to work in a high-stress situation if necessary.
NOTES:
FLSA: Non-exempt
