HSE Specialist
Responsibilities:Serve on Factory Leadership team as Individual Contributor and overall, as asite and regional InfluencerDirects the Champions for the Vestas Behavioral Safety and Safety Committeeteams across the sites and coordinates local programs with other sites andregions worldwide* Plan, develop and implement safety and healthstandards, criteria and guidelines, such as those issued by theOccupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), EnvironmentalProtection Agency (EPA), National Fire Protection Association(NFPA), and Vestas Corporate applicable regulations. Monitors thefactory's compliance level and recommend action for identified at-risksituatioPlan, develop and deliver HSE Training curriculum using standard computerpresentation programs, to train team members, supervisors, and managersin factory and corporate Vestas HSE practicesOversees HSE Management System review and input to process hazard assessmentsand change management of policy, procedures, machines, and equipment forinjury preventionConducts routine task and non-standard work-based Risk Assessments of jobactivities to objectively identify hazards to determine use of hierarchy forhazard controlsInspects organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident andhealth hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures whereindicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implementedPerforms or Coordinates industrial hygiene and ergonomic surveys. Documentsfindings according to accepted procedures. Uses and maintains HSE relatedinstrumentation, including calibration records.Ensures routine Inspections fire suppression equipment, emergencylighting, emergency shower and eyewash units, first-aid supplies, andany other applicable Life Safety deviceDelivers or directs respiratory protection care, maintenance, and useprogram training as applicableLeads investigative causes of injuries, accidents, incidents and nearmisses to identify preventive safety measures for incorporation into thesafety program.Maintains programs and record keeping systems that track and evaluate Legal,ISO, OHSAS and Vestas Corporate compliance to established standardsReview, edit and implement Internal Procedure documents pertaining toidentified physical, behavioral, and legal risks and operational controlsMaintains HSE files and records for internal and external auditing complianceReports HSE data in weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly reportsCompiles and submits agency reports required by regulatory agencies includingparticipating or leading audit from external agencies.Oversight of the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) files locally and via the Vestas3E MSDS DatabaseOversee factory compliance for state and federal regulations for handling,storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and waste. Liaison withapproved waste transporters and recyclersPerforms all required responsibilities in relation to the identification,inspection and management of the waste disposal program. Assists inidentifying waste streams, implementation of labeling of waste containers,and obtains labelsPerforms training in the Recycling and Hazardous Waste Contingency plans toaffected workers. Arranges for disposal of liquid and solid wastes;maintains State-required recordsAct as Safety Coordinator/ Liaison for Hazardous Materials and Waste,Spill, and Emergency Response / Contingency Plan. Ability to actaccordingly to initiate appropriate response to hazardous situationsAssist and monitor th administration of workers' compensation program,including working with the insurance carrier to reduce team member lost timeand tracking for OSHA recordkeeping purposesAnd all other tasks as assignedQualifications:Preferred Bachelor's degree (B.
