Through a combination of housing programs,supportive services, and community engagement, we strive to create afuture where every individual and family has a stable and secure home.In the Housing Advocate role, you will provide direct service tohomeless or formerly homeless families in the areas of assessment,referral, case planning, advocacy, transportation, emotional support andpractical assistance. Your contributions will make a difference in ourcommunity by: Meet with adults and children in home on a regular basisProvide support and resources to empower families to reach goals relatedto housing, employment and other identified needs Facilitate referralsfor both adults and children Regularly evaluate progress on case goalsProvide mediation and advocacy with landlords on the client\'s behalf todevelop a workable planto obtain and/or maintain housing; serve as anongoing liaison between property managers, neighbors, and participantsAttend regular supervision, case management meetings, and relevanttrainings Assist participants in locating and securing housing of theirchoice, when needed Assess housing strengths and barriers of familiesexperiencing homelessness to determine housing and service needs Provideinformation and referral assistance regarding available support fromappropriate social service agencies and/or community programs Applyknowledge of residential lease contracts to educate clients of theirrights and Other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor. Attendregular meetings with other service providers to share information andresources Work with colleagues from other agencies on joint projects asapproved by supervisor Note all client interactions in client files in atimely manner Record all hours on Time and Activity report Maintain casenotes of participant meetings and record participant services in theHomelessManagement Information System Ensure program compliance withclient documentation/reporting standards with agencypolicy/proceduresEnsure confidentiality of all client records and information Reportmonthly, quarterly and annual statistics to appropriate funding sourcesMeet weekly with Housing Manager for supervision Provide in-persontraining opportunities to Housing Advocates on case management tools andsocial work concepts Follow up via phone or email with community memberswho contact the agency when additional resources need to be shared, asrequested. Support Housing Program Managers with onboarding new HousingAdvocates Provide case consult opportunities for team members Provideopportunities for new staff to shadow direct service duties Assist withcoordinating coverage for housing advocates, as needed. Additionalduties as assigned. To be successful in this role, you will need: ASocial Work or related degree and/or previous experience working withpeople experiencing homelessness is required. Experience engaging with adiverse population is required. Basic knowledge working with Microsoftoffice, Google suite, particularly Google Sheets is required. Strongoral and written communication skills specific to explaining complexinformation to others, public speaking, working with community membersand landlords, and the ability to network with various social servicesagencies and community programs is required.
