Holiday Rotation: Per UnitGuidelines Weekend Rotation: Every third weekend POSITION SUMMARY TheHouse Supervisor is a representative of patient care/hospitaladministration on all shifts. The position safeguards the quality ofpatient care, meeting the needs and goals of the Sauk Prairie Healthcareorganization. The House Supervisor is responsible for the management andcoordination of all hospital departments and personnel on the off shiftsand weekends in the absence of direct line managers. Overall, the HouseSupervisor serves as an advocate for patient care, staff, and thehospital as a whole. Assuring high quality patient care services areprovided in accordance with SPH mission/vision, values, servicebehaviors, policies/procedures, and regulations. The House Supervisoroversees effective patient placement, assures adequate staffingresources and safe and effective care delivery in the absence of thedirect line manager and on all off shifts and weekends. POSITIONTECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Act as a liaison between patient careunits, support departments and organizational leadership, medical staffand other disciplines to assure safe and effective delivery of care inaccordance with hospital policy/procedures and protocols or otherclinical guidelines. 2. Support overall patient care departmentsoperating goals and needs by managing the off shifts, weekends, andholidays according to established plans for safe and effective staffingto assure high quality patient care. 3. Collaborate with alldisciplines, providers, and patient\'s families to achievemutually-defined patient care goals. 4. Provide shift oversight forpatient care practice, nursing care accountabilities for safe andeffective delivery of care. 5. Ensure uninterrupted quality of care byassisting with transitions of care. 6. Analyze and evaluatescomplexities and volumes of nursing care required and adjusts staffingresources accordingly. 7. Initiate discipline as needed to addressemergent needs in any department during the off shift and weekendcoverage and when there is not a designated dept. supervisor readilyavailable or in house. 8. Consult immediately with department directorand/or administrator to review situations and process to follow. 9.Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and riskmanagement activities. 10. Make critical adjustments and contacts toobtain needed equipment, services, resources. Including but not limitedto: obtaining equipment, interpreters, calling in specialty call team(e.g. OR) and coordinating Med Fight if needed. 11. Conduct regularrounds to all clinical care units to ensure resource needs and clinicalcare needs are discussed and solutions explored/implemented to supportoverall goals and patient care needs. 12. Provide oversight and acts asa resource for clinical staff. 13. Intervene in patient/family orprovider complaints, supporting effective communication and conflictresolution. POSITION REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION Required: Associate Degreein Nursing. Bachelor of Science Degree required within 5 years ofappointment. Preferred: None EXPERIENCE Required: None Preferred: 5years of clinical experience with previous experience in specialty areaof nursing (e.g. critical care, ER, or OB) desired. LICENSES ANDREGISTRATIONS Required: State of Wisconsin Registered Nurse licensePreferred: None CERTIFICATION(S): Required: Basic Life Support (BLS)required upon hire. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within6 months of hire. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required within 6months of hire. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 6months of hire.
