The Lemuel Shattuck Hospital (LSH) operated by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) is seeking a Hospital Information Management Specialist. The incumbent would receive, assemble, analyze, re-analyze, and review all discharged patient’s medical records for completeness and the presence of forms and authentication. The HIM Specialist will enter necessary information regarding missing forms or signatures in the hospital’s HIS system, in addition to tracking all open records and contact necessary staff to complete these records in a timely manner. The HIM Specialist reports to the HIM Manager and is responsible for filing, thinning, and purging all complete medical records. /_Hours:_/Monday-Friday 8:00-4:00PM, Weekends Off /_Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):_/// * /Assembles, analyzes, and reanalyzes records of discharged patients according to established procedures./ * /Responsible for follow up related to incomplete records including assigning incomplete reason, moving charts to appropriate area, follows up with clinicians and coders, conducts monthly audits and reports results to supervisor./ * /Break down all charts that are too large and make a new volume using current medical info and archives older volumes./ * /Collects reports, data and prepares records as directed by the ROI specialists./ * /Completed filing and ensures that all filing is complete including loose reports./ * /Enters charges from encounter forms into the billing system./ * /Functions as a team member and assists when needed./ * /Informs unit secretary when patient’s charts require further handling to be in correct filing order./ * /Monitors charts for delinquency and notifies HIM Director of any providers that are non-compliant./ * /Picks up mail daily from the mail room./ * /Prints necessary documents from the Meditech HIS and places reports in the physical record./ * /Pulls records for clinician requests./ * /Archives records in accordance with procedures.
