JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position: Honing Operator - 1st Shift Location:Brookfield, WI Job Id: 219 # of Openings: 1 SUMMARY OF POSITION:Honing/Dressing Operator is responsible for grinding, deburring,dressing and honing new and/or reconditioned cutting tools. This role iscritical to shipment of our high quality, premium cutting tools byproviding a high finish to help maintain performance of the product.Performs frequent changeovers for small quantity custom orders. Operatesone or more styles of honing/dressing machine. PRINCIPALRESPONSIBILITIES: Receive and review work assignments; verify that workpieces, blueprint and routing match regarding count, type, propersequence and type of honing to occur; Follow established procedures formachine setups; Select, change and/or install proper polishing wheels,dressing and abrasives to be used for each job on honing fixtures;Complete set-up and management honing process for new/reconditionedcutting tools; Mount and secure cutting tools in machine, set and adjustspeeds, feed rate and travel stops; Observe operation of machine andverify conformance of finished tools to specifications using measurementinstruments (fixed gauges, calipers & micrometers); Set up and operatemore than one honing/dressing machine or secondary equipment whennecessary; Enter all production information into the data collectionsystem; Monitor equipment performance; report problems and requestrequired maintenance to avoid unnecessary downtime and machine damage orrepairs; Perform SPC procedures on all jobs; Perform all other duties asassigned; Responsible for keeping area clean at all times. EDUCATION:High School Diploma or equivalent SKILLS/EXPERIENCE: 1 - 3 years ofexperience in a fast-paced, high technology manufacturing operation is aplus; Able to and/or be trained to read, understand and follow writteninstructions and shop drawings; Above average math skills. Must be ableto calculate appropriate machine settings and adjust accordingly; Ableto use/be trained in the required precision measuring and testingequipment; Computer literate, able to enter programs and directions;Ability to stand up to 10 hours a day, occasionally lifting and/ormoving up to 40 lbs; manual dexterity required to handle smaller tools.Apply for this Position Equal Opportunity Employer.
