1 Fulltime 4am-12pm 5 days a week
1 Fulltime 8pm-4am 5 days a week
1 Part time 8pm-4am 3 days a week
Training will take 30 days M-F, once trained will work 1 weekend a month. All training is done on the 4am-12pm shift with the Manager of department.
Pay Rates:
Technicians: entry level $35 an hour, experienced up to $40 an hour
Technologists: entry level $40, experienced up to $50 an hour or more based on experience
Job Description:
Day to day: Individual will be cutting, staining, mounting, and studying specimens of human tissue to provide data on functions of tissues and organs, cause, or progress on diseases, and following standards and practices.
Conducts quality control and instrument check procedures, documenting all related records.
Prepares and manages paraffin, reagents, and solutions based on standard formulas.
Processes human tissue specimens by cutting, staining, and mounting.
Expeditiously handles stat specimens.
Engages in the department's QA/PI program, enhancing performance through QI activities.
Participates in Strategic Improvement Process activities and committee memberships as appropriate.
Collaborates with peers, physicians, and healthcare team members.
Assumes the role of Clinical Supervisor when needed.
Manages equipment and supplies, ordering when low or near expiration.
Performs preventive maintenance on image analyzer and slide maker, ensuring no use of expired reagents.
Maintains ongoing records, files, and reports, contributing to test script development and system testing.
Prepares required written documentation for professional and departmental purposes.
Qualifications:
NY State license – Open to either Histology Technician or Clinical Laboratory Technologist
