About HEAVY MOBILE EQUIPMENT REPAIR INSPECTOR SUPERVISOR I

Summary You will serve as a HEAVY MOBILE EQUIPMENT REPAIR INSPECTOR SUPERVISOR I in the INSPECTION, TEST, QA AND TRAINING DIV; LIFTING AND HANDLING DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will make decisions on training needs and request related to employees of the Branch. You will keep abreast of new developments, which could affect the quality of the program. You will display initiative and ingenuity to meet changing needs in technology, material, and process. You will deal with other Branch and Division Heads to achieve required cooperation. You will direct the work of the Weight Handling Equipment Inspection Branch responsible for inspection on the Shipyard weight lifting equipment. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE: *Testing, inspection methods, procedure, materials, processes, maintenance, and record keeping procedures used in supporting weight handling equipment repair and certification. *Planning and coordinating complex weight handling inspection operations in support of ship repair projects. *Ability to investigate and analyze practices and problems and recommend/initiate effective improvements and solutions. *Prioritizing work, continually changing work priorities, assignments to meet Shipyard mission requirements. *Providing guidance and problem resolution to subordinates.
