  The MAA is currently accepting applications for the position of Heavy Equipment Maintenance Technician III within the Office of Maintenance at Martin State Airport (MTN Airport).

  Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  Performing preventive maintenance inspections.

  Inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing major malfunctions on motor vehicles and motor equipment.

  Performing standard preventive maintenance services such as changing oil, fueling, cleaning, or greasing parts.

  Assisting in snow removal procedures on Airport Runways and taxiways.

  Road-testing vehicles and equipment to ensure safety and reliability.

  This position is an emergency essential position. All employees designated as emergency essential are required to be available to work during weather, operational, and/or disaster emergency conditions. Furthermore, this position requires work in a 24-hour facility and you must be available to work any shift as required by the operational needs of the MAA.

  This position is located at Martin State Airport in Baltimore County, MD.

  Qualifications

  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  Education: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

  Experience: Four years of experience servicing, maintaining, and repairing motor vehicles, gasoline and/or diesel engines, or heavy-duty construction equipment. Two years of the required experience must include servicing and repairing heavy-duty construction equipment and diesel engines.

  Notes:

  Applicants may substitute additional documented and relevant experience repairing, servicing and maintaining automobiles, trucks, buses, or comparable equipment on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

  Completion of an accredited training program for Heavy Equipment or Diesel Repair may be substituted for one and one-half years of general experience. The accrediting body for the training program must be listed on the U.S. Department of Education's Database of Accredited Postsecondary Institutions and Programs.

  U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as defined under the Minimum Qualifications may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

  Certification as a Technician by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) can be substituted for two years of the required education. (The two years of experience used to qualify for ASE testing is considered an integral part of this substitution and cannot also be considered separately to meet Education or Experience Minimum Qualifications.)

  Certification as a Master Technician in one or more subject areas by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) can be substituted for the required education.

  Employees in this classification will be assigned duties that require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

  Licenses & Certifications

  Employees are assigned duties that require the operation of motor vehicles. Employees must possess and maintain a Class C motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

  Employees are required to possess and maintain a Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) valid in the State of Maryland during the probationary period, depending on the type of equipment operated.

  Employees in this class may be required to obtain Special Commercial Driver's License Endorsements for Hazardous Materials and Tank Vehicles depending on the type of equipment operated.

  Employees must have satisfied the second level of the employing administration's certification program prior to application. Employees wishing to be transferred or promoted to another administration must pass the administration's specific certification for Heavy Equipment Maintenance Technician III.

  Employees new to the Maryland Aviation Administration, must obtain an MAA Airfield Operators Permit in accordance with the Code of Maryland Regulation 11.03.01.04, Control of Vehicular Traffic on the Air Operations Area prior to permanent appointment.

  Employees may be required to obtain their certification in Air Conditioning Recycling and Recovery during their probationary period.

  Employees who are required to function in the capacity of Commercial Vehicle Inspector may be required to obtain and maintain their Commercial Vehicle Inspector's License.
