Position Overview
The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a Hearingand Speech Advanced Specialist for the Kiley Developmental Centerlocated in Waukegan, Illinois to coordinate the entire hearing andspeech services program. Recruits graduate students for internshiptraining and clinical practicums. Develops and implements comprehensivespeech, language and hearing services. Utilizes manual communicationskills with individuals who are deaf and/or hard of hearing.
Job Responsibilities
1.Coordinates hearing and speech services at the Kiley DevelopmentalCenter.
2.Provides direct professional clinical speech pathology and audiologyservices to an assigned caseload.
3.Develops and oversees practicums for graduate students for internshiptraining and clinical practicums.
4.Serves as designated lead worker.
5.Functions as a member of an Interdisciplinary Team.
6.Prepares routine and specialized reports.
7.Translates functions/procedures into sign language for individuals whoare deaf and/or hard of hearing.
8.Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonablywithin the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Conditions of Employment
1.Requires the ability to work after business hours, weekends andholidays.
2.Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personalcomputers.
3.Requires the ability to travel in the performance of job duties, withovernight stays as appropriate.
4.Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
5.Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited fromrecreational use under Illinois Law.
