FTE: 0.800000 Shift: Shift 2 Job Summary: The Health UnitCoordinator provides clerical and system coordination and support forthe inpatient care areas. Coordinates nursing unit communication andactivities with physicians, nursing staff, other departments,professional staff, patients, and families related to patient care. TheHealth Unit Coordinator manages the desk area of the inpatient unit,facilitating the use of technology and coordinating downtime procedures.Other duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION: Minimum of six monthsof experience as a Health Unit Coordinator is preferred. EDUCATIONDESCRIPTION: High School diploma or equivalent is required. Medicalterminology knowledge is required, or must satisfactorily complete thiscourse within the first six months of employment. Completion of a formalHealth Unit Coordinator training program is preferred. SPECIAL SKILLSDESCRIPTION: Must have the ability to adapt to changes in a fast-pacedwork environment. Exemplary telephone etiquette and customer serviceskills are required. Must possess analytical skills to gather andinterpret routine data, maintain semi-complex records and organize work.Working knowledge of Windows office systems and all office equipmentpreferred. LICENSURE DESCRIPTION: Health Unit Coordinator certificationis preferred.
