Summary About the Position: This position is located at Department of Education Activity, Americas Southeast District Ellis D. Parker Elementary School, Fort Novosel, Dale, Alabama. This is a term position. It is time limited NTE (3 years), in increments of 13 months and may be extended to reach a maximum of 6 years total service. There may be potential for extensions up to 8 years with DoDEA approval. Responsibilities Check temperatures and visual appearance to determine if students require medical attention need to rest or be sent home from school. Assist to medical professionals in the administration of routine health tests, noting results on the student's records. Administer routine and emergency first aid to students. Wash wounds, apply compresses and dressings, control bleeding, administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and follow first aid procedures. Maintain student health records on a current and secure basis. Maintain an in-house supply of dressings, antiseptics, and other common first aid materials. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: U.S. Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. General and Specialized Experience: Six months of general experience (1) in any type of work that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work of the position, or (2) experience that provided a familiarity with providing patient medical care. AND six months of specialized experience which includes washing wounds; applying compresses and dressings and following established First Aid Procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal Service (GS-03)OREducation: Two years of education above the high school level that included at least 12 semester hours in subjects related to the position, such as, medical fields of study. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education by 60. Add the two percentages. Qualified typist is required to type (40 wpm).
