Your Specific Responsibilities:
This position will provide Early Intervention Services to inidividuals who are newly diagnosed HIV+ or individuals who need reconnected to HIV care throughout Hernando County. Works closely with Physician offices and case management agencies to ensure these individuals are in care HIV/AIDS. Follows all HIV+ pregnant females in Hernando County throughout their pregnancy to ensure they are in appropriate HIV and prenatal care to ensure a HIV negative baby is born.
Works with populations of the community that are at high risk for HIV, AIDS, and STD infections by using educational and Works with populations of the community that are at high risk for HIV, AIDS, and STD infections by using educational and outreach prevention programs according to Hernando County needs. Serves as a resource person for community-based organizations and other community groups that serve the high-risk population. Provides literature, technical assistance, prophylactics, and guidance for program development and evaluation. Develops and evaluates need assessments for HIV education and prevention. Trains other community partners in HIV/AIDS prevention, counseling, and testing. Completes annual HIV Test Site registrations for all clinics and community partner HIV testing locations and monitors those locations annually.
Provides confidential HIV prevention and counseling testing as needed at the clinic, and in the field. Participates in risk reduction outreach activities within Hernando County that may also occur after-hours. Performs phlebotomy, as needed, in a clinical setting or in the field. Will obtain phlebotomy certificate within six months of hire if they do not currently have one.
Maintains certification as a 501 trainer. Conducts HIV 500 and 501 trainings to staff for continuous education and compliance with documentation and program regulations. Plans and provides HIV, AIDS, and STD in-services for nurses, technicians, teachers, and paraprofessionals to include Department of Health staff. Collects information, prepares records and reports required by the program, and submits all information in a timely manner. Collaborates with the STD program as needed. Attends conferences, local and regional meetings and obtains updates as needed. Participates in HIV related events.
Provides oversight to Jail Linkage Program and acts as liaison between DOH-Hernando and the Hernando County Detention Center. Completes monthly program reports and maintains appropriate logs as needed. Participates in monthly conference calls as scheduled. Participates as a team member of the HIV/AIDS staff and performs other duties as required by the supervisor. Performs duties of information custodian as outlined in information security operating policies and procedures.
Works with State Attorney’s office and judicial court staff to prepare and complete HIV court ordered testing. Utilizes appropriate court-ordered notification with complete documentation and notification to the Department of Health legal counsel.
Adheres to security and confidentiality policies and procedures of the Department of Health in Hernando County.
Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:
Minimum:
One or more years of Clerical Experience working in a medical or professional office.
Experience in fingerstick blood collection.
One or more years of computer experience utilizing Microsoft office, outlook, word, and Excel or similar applications.
Preferred:
Speak Spanish proficiently.
