  About the Opportunity

  Our Nuclear Power Engineering & Technical Solutions (NPETS) business provides engineering and technical solutions across the full nuclear lifecycle up to Decommissioning, evolving our credibility as new reactor technologies come to market - creating the UK’s most compelling Engineering & Technical solutions provider across all reactor types to contribute to the world’s global climate change challenge.

  Jacobs are recruiting for an experienced Health and Safety Engineer to join our NPETS team supporting our key client EDF Energy Nuclear Generation with their nuclear fleet in the UK.

  This role will be based at EDFs Heysham Power Station location, since 1983 Heysham 1 has generated 237 TWh of zero carbon electricity which is the equivalent of enough to power every home in Lancashire for 93 years. You will provide positive leadership on HSE matters within the Portfolio Project Teams and promote the adoption of best practice, with an enthusiastic HSE culture that delivers positive commitment to and engages all employees in continuous improvement in HSE performance. Key responsibilities will be:

  Monitor and report on the effectiveness of the HSE Management System and progress against HSE Performance Standards

  Make recommendations for improvement to the HSE Management System

  Promotion of best practice, high safety standards and culture

  Develop key relationships and maintain effective networks

  Here's What You'll Need:

  HNC in a relevant technical discipline or equivalent.

  Current qualification/knowledge of the CDM Regulations.

  Minimum NEBOSH General Certificate, Construction Certificate or NVQ Level 3

  Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) desirable

  IEMA Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management

  Operational knowledge of current HSE legislation associated with project work

  Good communication skills and the ability to develop network and working relationships with other groups involved in project delivery

  Suitable relevant experience working as a HSE Professional in a project context. This needs to include experience working within a highly regulated, operational environment

  Must be experienced in managing contractors and experience of accident investigation and reporting
