Senior Engineer Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) – Roermond, Netherlands
In this position, you will actively promote health, safety, and environmental awareness and apply technical expertise in the design, implementation, and management of health, safety, and environmental engineering controls within the site.
About the role:
Being part of the plant Health & Safety team, you will be providing cross-functional technical support to ensure compliance with Cummins's internal requirements, applicable safety, health and environmental regulations and industry standards. You will also be:
Actively demonstrates safety awareness and promotes a positive HSE culture coaching others to do the same.
Ensures employees are consulted and allowed to contribute to the development and implementation of HSE programs, policies, and procedures.
Contributes to daily HSE operations within the site providing support to solve complex technical issues.
Participates in site HSE audit preparation and formal audit processes.
Works cross-functionally, providing technical expertise, to improve hazard prevention and risk control measures, non-conformities, corrective and preventive actions, driving continual improvement projects within the site:
Leads hazard identification, environmental aspect identification, and risk assessment programs to identify risk improvement opportunities and gaps in HSE compliance obligations.
Drives targets and objectives for the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex hazard prevention and control systems to reduce or eliminate potential risks.
Develops and leads training, skills development, and internal communications related to hazard prevention and control for employees within the site.
Evaluate HSE data, legal compliance findings, and internal and external audit results to develop improvement plans using a risk-based, data-driven approach.
Leads technical content development ensuring it is up to date, controlled, and available while adhering to data privacy regulations.
Contributes to site HSE Management Systems review annually in conformance with Cummins's internal requirements.
Coaches and develops cross-functional teams based on stakeholder feedback, and observations and actively seeks opportunities for self-development through professional HSE organizations, as a champion of emerging trends.
Qualifications
About you:
You will ideally have HSE experience within an automotive or heavy machinery environment, however, if you enjoy and can evidence a high level of attention to detail, resiliency, and strong communication skills along with an interest in HSE and already had relevant technical experience in industrial / manufacturing companies, we’d love to hear from you. Here are some of the other skills and competencies we’d like you to have:
BA degree in Health&Saftety, Environmental science, Safety administration, or relevant technical field of study;
MA and (or) MBA degree in the technical discipline or social discipline is a plus;
Extended professional experience in a similar role within a manufacturing setting;
Understanding of environmental regulations, industry standards, and best practices;
Extended Knowledge of Arbo, Environmental regulations, and Occupational Hygiene (ergonomics, welding fumes, noise, screen work, etc.)
Ability to build strong and collaborative working with cross-functional teams, influencing stakeholders at different levels;
Problem-solving mentality, personal curiosity, self-discipline, and stress resistance.
Fluency in Dutch and English, as these are our main business languages on-site; knowledge of any other languages is a benefit (German languages are preferable);
