Our hire will work within the Sheriff's office, processing gun permit applications through our computer system, and providing receipts for each payment, as well as performing various secretarial and administrative functions. Other essential functions of the job include running background checks on commitments that are reviewed in the office and revoking concealed-carry licenses when necessary. Our hire will also work with the County Prothonotary office on all civil process orders to be served, create service forms, and receipts for all orders processed, and provide to a Sheriff Deputy to ensure served. In addition, our hire serves civil orders to persons who come to the office, and processes and schedules real estate sheriff sales. and advertises mortgage foreclosure writs of execution in local newspapers and other required posting locations. The Gun Permit Clerk also answers phones and assists the public with questions. creates civil process service forms for all services, maintains office supply inventories, and orders supplies when necessary. They also perform notary service for all paperwork processed in the office, requiring notarization.

　　Requirements

　　Qualified candidates must hold a high school diploma or GED; have at least one year of experience in an office environment; experience with legal documents, office procedures, and experience with handling money is preferred. Strong customer service orientation; demonstrated accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills; proficient interpersonal relations and communications skills; computer literacy; abilities to effectively diffuse antagonistic dealings; and experience maintaining confidential information. Notary Public also preferred or ability to acquire within 90 days of placement into position.
