Department Summary:
As a Group Leader in the Health Plan Coverage & Insurance Department (P312), you will be part of the management team and primarily responsible for providing first-line day-to-day management and support to Department staff including performance management and career development.
You will also support Department leadership in the development and execution of Dept. strategies and initiatives, including ensuring high-quality and impactful delivery and identifying growth opportunities across CCIIO, CM, CMCS, and CMS OMH.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Staff Management :
Provide leadership and first-line, day-to-day management of Dept. staff.
Support onboarding for new employees.
Communicate regularly with staff to ensure well-being, engagement, and job satisfaction.
Participate in Department recruiting and hiring.
Support staff in the development of transition plans and facilitate transitions between projects.
Manage formal performance management activities for staff.
Career Development :
Support staff in developing and achieving professional goals.
Support staff in identifying project opportunities that support professional growth.
Assist staff with identifying appropriate training and development opportunities.
Support staff in identifying external opportunities (e.g. conference participation, publications) to showcase technical expertise.
Performance Management :
Engage in regular discussions with project teams about expectations, performance, and growth opportunities.
Regularly solicit feedback on staff performance and identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
Participate in annual performance management cycle activities.
Complete performance management reviews.
Identify opportunities to recognize and reward group members' accomplishments.
Extended Leadership Team Participation:
Support the development and implementation of Department plans, strategies, and programs.
Ensure staff understand organizational strategic direction, priorities and activities.
Support department leadership and staff to foster a culture of trust, excellence, teamwork, respect, and continued learning and innovation in order to solve the most difficult challenges and maintain a highly skilled workforce.
Participate in the leadership and management of the department's personnel activities, including identification, recruitment, development, and retention of personnel required to realize the department's mission, vision, strategy, goals, and objectives.
Minimum Qualifications:
Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
Expertise private insurance coverage, Medicaid, and/or Medicare.
Experience managing teams; mentorship experience, people management experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree.
10 years of professional experience in private insurance coverage, private insurance coverage, Medicaid, and/or Medicare.
Minimum of 12 months experience at MITRE.
