About Groundskeeper II

  The Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital is seeking a Groundskeeper II with a 2B Hoisting License. The Groundskeeper II trims, prunes, cuts and/or plants flowers, bushes, etc. In addition, seeds, waters, cuts, weeds, fertilizes lawns, flower beds, shrubs, etc. Spray lawns, flower beds, etc. with fertilizers; excavates grounds: minor repairs to roadways, parking lots, and walkways. Performs related work as required. Please note: This is a full-time, 40 hour position. The schedule is 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The days off are Saturday and Sunday. _Duties and Responsibilities (these are a general summary and not all-inclusive):_ * Trims, prunes and/or plants flowers, shrubs etc. * Seeds, water, weeds and/or fertilizes lawns, flower beds, shrubs etc. * Assists in designing floral beds, planning plan placement for grounds beatification. * Mows lawns, using hand or power equipment. * Makes minor repairs of sidewalks, roadways and parking lots and clear them of snow. * Performs related duties such as emptying rubbish barrels, picking up trash, cleaning ditches, drains, catch basins on grounds or roadways; shoveling snow raking leaves. Preferred Qualifications:

  Given the population served bilingual or multilingual fluency. 2. ASL (American Sign Language) 3. Possess a current and valid pesticide applicator's certificate issued by the Pesticide Bureau, Department of Food and Agriculture _About Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WHRC):_ Located on over 100 acres in Worcester, Massachusetts, Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH) is part of an integrated network of effective, efficient and culturally competent mental health services. It provides intermediate and long-term inpatient care for individuals with serious and persistent mental illness who live in Massachusetts, as well as individuals requiring specialized court ordered evaluations. WRCH provides inpatient services to 260 inpatient adults, inclusive of a Deaf Inpatient Mental Health Service: 30 inpatient adolescents and 30 residential adolescents, in either an Intensive Residential Treatment Program (IRTP) or a Behavioral Intensive Residential Treatment Program (BIRT). _DMH Mission Statement:_ The Department of Mental Health assures and provides access to services and supports to meet the mental health needs of individuals of all ages, enabling them to live, work and participate in their communities. The Department establishes standards to ensure effective and culturally competent care to promote recovery. Minimum Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have at least (A) one year of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, park maintenance or tree maintenance work. As well as knowledge of pesticides and herbicides. Or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below. Substitutions: I. An Associate's or higher degree with a major in forestry, arboriculture, horticulture or landscape architecture may be substituted for the required experience.* Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: I. Possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's License. II. Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid appropriate hoisting license, issued by the Massachusetts Department of Public Safety, may be required. III.
