Ability to follow standard safety practices and procedures
Ability to effectively communicate with others
Ability to read and understand university policy and procedures, MSDS , equipment manuals and chemical labels
Standing and walking 8 hours a day; lifting up to 80 pounds; outside exposure to varying climate conditions, dust, toxic chemicals, and materials
High School Diploma or equivalent
Possession of valid drivers license
Ability to work evenings and weekends
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelors’ degree in related field
Knowledge of turf maintenance equipment
Prior work experience in landscape, athletics, grounds maintenance
Job Description
Texas State University is seeking applications for an Athletic Grounds Technician (Grounds Maint Worker II). This is a full-time twelve-month, benefits eligible position.
Job Duties
Duties include assisting with the care and maintenance of department grounds and landscape; irrigation maintenance; maintaining, prepping and marking fields for sport program games and practices; maintaining, servicing and adjusting equipment; maintaining work logs, mileage, and equipment manuals; and performing other duties as assigned.
