  Job Summary:

  The Product Safety Certification & Validation Organization is seeking a highly motivated, creative, energetic, hands-on individual to support experimental military and commercial jet engine test activities. Responsibilities include but are not limited to support of multi-functional team leadership, troubleshooting, and execution of developmental and endurance testing.   Key Responsibilities:

  Possess knowledge and understanding of validation programs, testing, and instrumentation requirements for engine development. Possess ability to work under pressure in a high paced environment.

  Must have good communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment to ensure test operations readiness and flawless execution of test vehicle plan, tests, and inspections. The Sr. Test Engineer will interface with Component Integration Product Team (CIPT) and Systems engineers to ensure test requirements are being met on time and within budget.

  Coordinate potential hardware replacement and maintain part life records.

  Conduct and assist in engine inspections. Coordinate and drive engine maintenance activities.

  Maintain engine configuration awareness & documentation through engine history record sheets.

  Effective skills working in a team environment to ensure test operations readiness and flawless execution of test vehicle plan, tests, and inspections. Drive to meet requirements and prevent any delay, while maintaining highest quality of work.

  Provide innovative solutions to test requirements, often in a high-pressure environment while working with minimum supervision. Also, provide technical direction and daily task coordination, cross functional team leadership, troubleshooting, engine direction, and execution of developmental sea level and flight testing.

  Support programs including but not limited to F119, F135, APU and Advanced and Geared Turbofan.

  Basic Qualifications:

  Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering ​

  5+ years of Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering experience or 3+ years of Mechanical or Aeronautical experience with an Advanced Degree. In lieu of degree, must have 9 years of Mechanical or Aeronautical engineering experience.

  Flexibility to adapt to fluid customer requirements, priorities, and schedules.

  Position requires periodic travel (25% or more) to offsite test locations (Canada, Florida, Tennessee, etc.) around the world.

  Frequent off-shift coverage and ability to flex schedule to cover weekends (approximately 25%) is required to support 24/7 test operations.

  Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship.

  The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  Preferred Qualifications:

  Experience with jet engine hardware, assembly, and/or testing.

  Knowledge of engine performance and test data analysis.

  Experience with continuous improvement processes.

  Self-motivation to plan required tasks and lead a team to achieve significant goals with little outside direction.

  Proven ability to work as part of a team on major validation and/or process improvement projects.

  Previous experience in engine ground test or flight test operations.

  Team center or SAP experience.

  Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

  Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

  This requisition is eligible for an employee referral award. ALL eligibility requirements must be met.

  The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

  Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

  This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
