The Research Support Services Team (RSST) is an interdisciplinary team that works collaboratively with Principal Investigators (PIs) within the Division to provide pre-award grant services and is highly valued by faculty and staff for their support and grant related expertise. Position Overview: The Grants and Contracts Professional 3 (Job Code 8223PE) position is an integral member of the RSST team who will serve as an expert resource to faculty and division staff and will take the lead on working with faculty to develop grant budgets that comply with University of Minnesota and funding agency requirements including personnel categories, effort, cost sharing, charging direct and indirect costs, F&A calculations, justifications and working knowledge of pertinent regulations (allowability, allocability, and reasonableness of costs). Additionally, this position will work closely with other members of the RSST team and University partners on all aspects of the grant preparation and submission process. Strong communication skills and the capacity to work both independently and as part of a team under tight deadlines are important attributes for this position. Duties/Responsibilities: Pre-award Proposal Development, Preparation, & Submission - 75% Develops grant and contract budgets and electronic grant applications for a variety of government and private agencies (e.g., NIH, CDC, AHRQ). Assists with interpretation of funding agency regulations and requirements. Reviews components of grant submission, ensuring that proposals meet granting agency requirements. Collaborates with PIs, SPA and post-award staff throughout the life of an award on issues such as advance account requests, contract interpretation, rebudgeting, subaward issuing, just-in-time requests, project period extensions, annual reporting and carryforward requests. Act as liaison to sponsoring agencies and University personnel on all questions regarding the accounting aspects of proposals and research agreements Develops budgets for annual grant renewals. Updates and prepares other support documents for faculty for Just-in-Time Requests from funding agencies, prime institutions, and other UMN collaborator proposals upon request. Works with other departments and institutions to facilitate collaborative awards. EpGraM Database Entry, Review, & Reporting - 10% Collects information, adds data and maintains FileMaker Pro databases and other systems for recording and tracking grant proposals and awards. Prepared reports for stakeholders on grant activity which directly impacts the financial health of the Division Education & Training - 5% Develops a strong working knowledge of university and federal regulations, policies, and procedures related to and impacting grants budget development and management and serve as an expert to faculty and staff. Continues professional development by attending relevant seminars, workshops, and necessary University trainings. Keeps up-to-date on University and funding agency systems (e.g. EGMS, ASSIST). Regular Meetings, Interactions with RSST to Manage Submission Schedules, Coordinate Efforts - 10% Flexible Work Arrangements: The University of Minnesota endorses a "Work with Flexibility" approach that encourages employees to select a work location where they can do their best work. The successful candidate will be provided University-configured equipment and supportive technology tools, however, they are expected to have access to a reliable internet connection for duties undertaken remotely. Salary Range: Anticipated starting salary is $72,000 - $85,000 annually, depending on the candidate's total relevant education and experience. Qualifications All required qualifications must be documented on application materials. Required: BA/BS with at least 4 years of experience in performing administrative, budgetary, or grant duties or a combination of related education and relevant work experience to equal 8 years, including experience with computers (MS Office, Google tools).
