  Introduction to the team

  Moss Adams' Grant Compliance and Consulting Practice provides comprehensive grant compliance support, subrecipient monitoring, and consulting to clients throughout the Western United States. Additionally, we help clients to implement solutions through policy and procedure development, process improvement, and training. We are committed to providing superior client service through strong relationships and high-value deliverables.

  We are currently seeking a Grant Compliance Staff to be part of the Moss Adams team. The focus of this role will be providing grant management and compliance support, including conducting pre-award activities, monitoring subrecipient performance and reporting, performing compliance reviews, assessing financial report submissions, performing desk reviews/audits, and providing information to support the development of findings and recommendations, primarily to governments, not-for-profit entities, institutions of higher education, and tribes. You may also assist other Moss Adams staff with internal controls reviews, internal audits, policy and procedure development, and operational assessments.   Responsibilities:

  Support project start-up and planning activities, such as performing and documenting research of compliance requirements (federal, state, grant-specific, etc.).

  Assist in the development of consistent grant management templates such as subaward agreements, sub-recipient budgets, and financial reporting/invoices.

  Perform subrecipient setup and support procedures including conducting preliminary risk assessments, providing technical assistance/guidance, and developing training materials.

  Conduct sub-recipient/sub-contractor monitoring efforts including financial report/invoice reviews, compliance assessments/testing, and desk reviews/audits.

  Conduct detailed transaction testing for compliance with established criteria and requirements.

  Support consulting activities that include conducting interviews, reviewing documents, performing a variety of analysis, and assisting in preparing client deliverables such as findings, recommendations, and draft and final reports

  Work collaboratively with clients to understand current business practices, identify opportunities for improvement, define new processes, and develop new/updated policies and procedures

  Qualifications:

  Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field preferred; Master’s in Accounting, MBA or MPA preferred

  Minimum of 1 year of related experience required, preferably working with government (city, county, special purpose or state) or not-for profits

  CPA, CIA or CFE designation preferred

  Experience with grant management activities

  Familiarity with Generally Accepted Governmental Auditing Standards (GAGAS), the Yellow Book, and standards from the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) preferred

  Familiarity with financial and operational aspects of not-for-profits and local governments desired

  Ability to write reports, prepare findings, and present recommendations

  Strong verbal and written communication skills

  Ability to understand problems, think critically, and identify creative solutions

  Strong organizational skills; able to effectively prioritize assignments and competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  Ability to take direction, works independently to prioritize work, establish goals, and produce quality work

  Effective time management and organizational skills, proven ability to prioritize while simultaneously managing numerous projects/processes often under tight deadlines

  Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint)

  Ability to travel as needed, approximately 10-30%
