OverviewThe College of Engineering at Utah State University seeks a highly motivated full time Grant and Proposal Development Coordinator to assist in the initiation and development of grant proposals to various local, state, and federal funding agencies. The position will work closely with the Sponsored Programs Office to help faculty throughout the College of Engineering start their proposal in the grant submission system (Kuali Research), as well as work with Business Services to assist with the proposal budgets, and assist with required proposal documentation preparation and coordination.
The selected individual's job responsibilities relate primarily to the beginning of the life-cycle of sponsored grants and ensuring the proposal is meeting sponsor requirements and deadlines. Successful candidates will have a working knowledge, or become very familiar with various granting agencies and their respective submission portals, requirements, and procedures.
This position will not work on the development or writing of the technical proposals themselves, but rather coordinating with faculty and other Grant Writers and proposal development staff to assist with many other aspects of an increased volume of sponsored activities through the initiation and submission stages. Excellent communication skills and customer service are critical and necessary. Successful candidates will be able to work as part of a team, while also being able to be self-learner after initial training and on-boarding.
Responsibilities
Assist with pre-award/proposal initiation in Kuali Research system.Assist with budget (grant and cost share) set-up, working closely with Business Managers and Financial Officer.Assist with document preparation and coordination as they relate to proposal requirements.Work closely with proposal development specialists and ADR, and assist/train faculty in proposal development requirements, while assisting with the initiation of proposals throughout the college.Ensure proposals are meeting college and departmental requirements for FandA, tuition, student health insurance, etc.Work closely with Sponsored Programs Office to ensure proposal are meeting university requirements and deadlines.Work with Sponsored Programs Accounting and help with post-award support throughout the college.Ensures that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.Performs miscellaneous job and business related duties as assigned by Associate Dean, Dean, or Financial Officer.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
Associate degree plus two years of experience; or a bachelors degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education plus experience.Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of USU systems such as Kuali.
